The retirement and workforce landscapes in the United Kingdom are changing. Data of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows that the country had 1.4 million people working beyond the state pension age (SPA) in 2011. The number represents a 85% increase in the past 20 years from 753,000 in 1993. The UK also has 12% of older people working compared to 7.6% in 1993. Most of the 1.4 million older workers are women, over 61%, while men account for 39%.

As we all remember, the recent presidential elections in France have ended with the election of a new president, Francois Hollande, who replaced the odious Nicolas Sarcozy. The new representative of France’s power at the international arena started with the correction of his predecessor’s decisions, which appear to be wrong for him. Leaving the cases of international policy away for a while, Mr. Hollande concentrated on the internal policy, trying to fix things inside the country.
